About CIQG Membership

Membership in CIQG signifies a commitment to fostering quality in higher education across the globe by way of collaboration, while respecting the diversity of systems, operations and thoughts represented within the Group.  Accordingly, CIQG membership is prioritized for international agencies/organizations although there are two types of memberships: (1) international membership, and (2) affiliate membership.

International Membership.  Open to international organizations that meet and sustain at least one of the eligibility criteria:

  • Degree-granting higher education institutions outside the United States in good standing with their national quality assurance organizations;
  • Accreditors of post-secondary degree-granting institutions recognized by government or other official authorities that do not accredit institutions in the United States;
  • Government agencies;
  • Higher education consultants with endorsement from CIQG Advisory Council.

Affiliate Membership.  Open to any U.S. organization or individual that wishes to support and participate with CIQG; and adheres to the policies, processes and protocols (where applicable) of CHEA/CIQG. CHEA Member institutions hold Affiliate status.

Affiliate members must meet at least one of the eligibility criteria:

  • Accrediting organization recognized by either CHEA and/or the US Department of Education (USDE)
  • Member of the Washington Higher Education Secretariat
  • Degree-granting institution accredited by an accrediting organization that is recognized by USDE but not by CHEA
  • Established organization that supports academic accreditation processes and the work of CHEA
  • Individuals representing their own individual interests

APPLICATION PROCESS
International groups or Affiliate groups interested in CIQG membership should review the eligibility criteria for membership when completing the application.

FEE STRUCTURE AND SCHEDULE
All membership fees are invoiced for one calendar year and are renewed annually unless membership is terminated.

Membership dues are determined using the following scale:

Institution/Organization's Operating Budget Annual Membership Dues
Over $300 million USD          $1,500 USD
$40 million - $300 million USD          $1,000 USD
Under $40 million USD            $500 USD
Individual Membership            $300 USD

Minimum Guidelines for active membership
All CIQG members should:

  • Honor and adhere to International Quality Principles referenced in the CIQG Memorandum of Understanding
  • Demonstrate commitment to, and support of, the CIQG purpose in the members’ organization.
  • Remit timely payment of annual dues.
  • Contribute to discourse and other research-related activities facilitated and/or endorsed by CIQG.
