CHEA Salutes Dr. Belle S. Wheelan 

Following more than 20 years of distinguished service as President of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCOC), Dr. Belle S. Wheelan will embark on a well-deserved retirement at the end of the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year.

As a long-time advocate and friend of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), Dr. Wheelan’s vision and leadership have been truly inspirational. Her unwavering dedication and support for higher education accreditation, quality assurance, and academic freedom have left an indelible mark on higher education across the country and within the global accreditation community.

CHEA congratulates Dr. Wheelan for her remarkable contributions and tireless dedication to advancing the awareness and value of higher education accreditation within institutions and the entire community. We wish her all the best in her final year with SACSCOC and her upcoming retirement.
